Poor Powder had to go through a lot.
The Florida Everglades is a huge area filled with swamps and dangerous animals such as alligators and snakes. This could be a dangerous place.
And the poor puppy was thrown into the Everglades. One cold February day, a couple noticed a white dog curled up on the ground in the middle of the Everglades in Florida. When he got up to leave, he suddenly staggered. It was clear that he was sick and confused.
The couple spent hours calling all the organizations they could think of. But finally the police came.
The police were horrified by the condition of the dog. The rash covered most of his body and both of his eyes were swollen. It was clear to everyone that the poor animal had been in pain for a long time.
Despite his nervousness, the dog was not aggressive at all.
He even let them pet him. By that time, night had fallen and he was so weak that he could no longer walk on his own. The police asked for help from the animal rescue service Dezzy.
Sandra, the founder of the rescue service, called the dog Powder because of its color. She gave him the emergency medical care he needed.
Not only was Powder infected with demodectic scabies, he also suffered from entropion, a genetic disease that caused his eyelids to twist inward.
His cornea of the eyes become inflamed from constant irritation. He needed surgery to save his eyes. But so far he was too ill to survive the procedure. The vet took care of him working day and night to get him back on the road to recovery. When they put him in order, he was finally admitted to the operation.
After many months of treatment, Powder has completely changed. Now he has nothing to do with the trembling, lifeless animal he once was.
He gained weight, both eyes healed after surgery, and his fur became snow-white again. He also received socialization training to help him overcome anxiety. Thanks to the kindness of strangers, he is now a happy beautiful dog.
